Performance boost, V3 is now a candidate for release
Like a well-tuned machine
After a long time we have finally been able to improve the balance between performance and graphics quality. The purpose of all this work is to make Anarky compatible with all kinds of low-power devices such as a mobile phone, up to a high-end device such as a PC.
Anarky was always intended as a multi-platform online game, no matter where you play it from.
A more intuitive interface
Considering that Anarky will be played on multiple platforms, we have spent a lot of time designing interfaces so that they are compatible with all types of devices. Our main concern is user comfort.
Some menus now have quick access buttons with symbols that make it easier to understand and help everything to be understood regardless of the language, even if the player cannot read, over time the player will be able to familiarize himself with the symbols.
Even though there is now more information displayed on the screen, we believe that it will be easier for new users to understand. With the upcoming round of testing, we will be asking our play testers for suggestions for improving this whole area.
No more memory spikes during fast travel
The fast travel system was created with the purpose of going from one land to another immediately regardless of the distance, the problem is the pre-loading of these lands. In general, there was a spike in memory usage that in some cases slowed down the process (which is ironic being a fast travel system) and in other cases the game crashed due to excessive RAM usage.
Now more than ever you can go from one place to another immediately and without slow loading. Finally the fast travel system is fast.
All these improvements come with a price
Making so many improvements led to a change in the core of the game, there were changes from the very core of the code, some lines of code were completely rewritten and others were completely gone.
The problem is that this changed the coding system we used to give identity to the voxels and this has now changed the type of cube used by the players (including us). All this means that the buildings in essence remain the same, but are now made of other materials.
We basically broke the existing buildings…. sorry.
we also have to start from scratch.
